The Purpose

On December 9, 2024, I donated a kidney to my brother. The urgency of the process meant that I did not push on obtaining information about recovery and competition as hard as I could have. The information I received was generic and in some cases inapplicable to my personal situation. It has been six weeks since my surgery and I am starting back to my training.

There is very little information out there on recovering from kidney donation and getting back to competing on a national or international level. I have a team with one-kidney training foremost in mind. This includes a world-class sports performance nutritionist, two coaches, and a personal trainer. Given these resources, I thought it might be helpful to someone considering donating a kidney to see my recovery and competition process.
